This reminds me of the time when I had gone to the museum of science and industry with my family in Chicago, we were getting out tickets and these 4 Russians behind me and my step mom started talking about something directed towards us, it was something like “there people had cut us,” “We we’re here first” “these bitches really just cut us?” at the time, I barley knew any Russian but I picked up on a few words, my step mom on the other hand is a fluent speaker and understood everything they said, she then proceeded to say “Stop being an ass about it and wait.” After that they just looked at her, when we got our tickets she was talking with my step sisters who were also fluent, they were all laughing about it, I didn’t know much about it until I had asked, the Russians stayed away from us after that.

Reminds me of the time I was traveling to Korea through a Japanese airport. I'm a blond haired, blue eyed, white American WEEABOO so I speak maybe a hundred words of Japanese. There was this group of Japanese teenagers who were working at the airport who were all talking. Between their body language and a dozen or so words, I could tell they were trash talking the crowd. When I was next to them, I knocked a sign over with my bag, turned to the Japanese girl who bent to pick it back up, and I began to apologize to her in Japanese. The whole group of teens sucked in their breath and their eyes went wide. I smirked at them, thanked them, and then continued on my way. It felt great to leave them all assuming I knew way more than I actually did.

Oml when I was alott younger, Like 5 or 6, my mom and I went to the salon to go get her hair done, she fell asleep and I was just playing, the lady doing my moms hair started talking shit about her in Yoruba, I’m guessing she thought I wouldn’t understand since I was little or maybe she thought we had a different traditional language, I heard everything and I was soo mad, after my mom was done and we started leaving, and I said “ you should be quiet and just do your job, My mommy isn’t fat she pregnant, and your the ugly one” I wish I said it in Yoruba but I wasn’t fluent. Anyways the lady looked sooooo embarrassed and my mom only had to pay half of the bill, my mother was so confused and when I explained to her what happened, she was so calm and we just left.
We never returned to the salon but I lived in a small town so I would see the lady often, she would always be soo embarrassed lol but I’d just smile.
This all happened when I lived in Nigeria, Lagos

So I had a Bulgarian teacher who was in Germany I don't remember for what. And she told the class she was on the subway one time and two other Bulgarian women had a talk to each other. Then one of them said. Хайде да седнем някъде. (Let's sit somewhere) and the another replied with: Добре само изчакай тази дебелата да стане. (Okay just wait for this fat one to get up) and they were talking about my teacher without knowing she knew what they were saying. I don't remember how she replied to them but it was something badass, my favorite teacher. (BTW the language is bulgarian)

There's quite a few Russians that live around where I live but surprisely I have never overheard any of them say anything embarrassing or crude about me or anyone else in particular. Likely due to me and just about everyone else being white. Can't really tell who knows or does not know Russian. They might say all sorts of horrible shit about Hispanic people. Too bad I never kept in contact with the two or three Hispanic folks that were in my Russian classes.

So there was a boy in third grade that was looking through my desk,he then said something in Spanish. I didn't understand but then now a year later I found out that he was calling me a shithead in Spanish. My friends found out because they speak Spanish. So when I found out I was upset. Also because HE WAS LOOKING THROUGH MY DESK. HE RANSACKED MY DESK! So now every time I see him I feel weird knowing this guy I'm walking near called me a shithead in Spanish and ransacked my desk. Now he tries to awkwardly flirt with me and he knows it's not working. But he still does it anyway because he said he has no girlfriend, even though he does so now he's trying to cheat on her. Great a ransacking cheater who calls girls a shithead. I hate this guy already. And I will always hate him. Also yes I'm in 4th grade if you didn't know.
Have a good day! And stay safe! 💖💖💖❤❤💖💖💘💘

After a while of taking Sh!t about Asians one of them pointed at me and said Wow! She looks fine! I wanna mess her up so bad in bed!

    1. since i know a BIT of Korean, my family was, eating out, like my 4 aunts, 4 uncles, 5 cousins, my mom, our grandma and grandpa, then 2 korean women sat at the next table. one talked about how she knows the other girl's husband slept with her mother... and the wife said that she knows and said that she slept with his husband's brother and their husband's came and i was laughing the whole time, everyone in our table was looking at me.
    2. since my country has 20% or so spanish in the official language (Filipino) i tried to study spanish.
i went to hongkong with my family (same in the 1st story) and in the immigration their was a girl and a boy about my age (10-13 y.o.) and were cursing at me saying i am small and some shit. when me and my cousin had enough (we both knew a good amnt. of spanish, and our parents were not yet there, we were scattered in different lanes) we told them in spanish to shut up, to mind their own business, and that we can understand them. they both went fo their parents after looking sad or smth. shsjdikdmwkck yep

I was stationed in the army in Korea back in the 90s (I speak Korean, which was part of my job as a liaison, but I am as white as can be) and one day went into Seoul to go shopping. I went into a rather nice store, and did some shopping. It is important to note that at this point, English was becoming very common as a second language for Koreans, and they all wanted to practice it whenever they saw an American, so I didn't actually wind up speaking much Korean. I made my purchases, taking to the store clerk in English. After I left I noticed two Korean men following me in a rather sketchy manner, and slowed down to hear what they were saying. It became apparent they were part of an anti-American group, and were planning to beat me up the moment I went into an isolated area. One of them mentioned having a cosh on him (this was fall, so they were wearing big coats, easy to conceal it). I decided to continue to walk, but now in the direction of a police station which I had passed earlier. The men continued to follow me. As soon as I reached the police station, I spoke to an officer outside, in good Korean "Excuse me officer, but these men have weapons on them and were planning to assault me". Several police officers surrounded them, arrested them, and asked me to make a report, which I did, in fluent Korean. The looks on those two men's faces were priceless.

So I am from northern India (Ladakh) and even though Ladakhi people are Indian, we don't really have the same face features as others. So we look a bit similar to Chinese and Indonesians. So this one time during school vacation me and my family went to Delhi and there I met a school friend,so we went to a park talking in Ladakhi and laughing and some children who seems like the same age as us started mocking us behind our back in Hindi thinking that we don't know it . My friend went near them and started throwing them such extraordinary Hindi curse words which even they don't know. I will never forget the look on their faces😂😂😂

Ok so I was in Tesco with my mum (I was 11) and she asked me where the tea was in Swedish, because that’s the language we speak to each other. Then I told her I don’t know, and a lady near us said where it was. So I sarcastically said to my mum” Mum, she understands you!” But in Swedish. The lady laughed and said that yes she understands us. I was mortified.

I feel bad cause once *i* was the absolute clown that got caught shit talkin someone in another language.
It was on Christmas day maybe two or three years ago and a few family members from my dad's side came over to my house to celebrate with us, one of them being my uncle who I've always found really annoying and creepy due to how affectionate and touchy he was to me and my siblings (my family at home are affectionate but he was kinda weird about it, like giving us shoulder massages and kissing us) and I didn't really like at all.
So at one point during the day he sat beside me on the couch when I was talking to a friend of mine that lives in France, we were texting in English but as soon as my uncle sat beside me I started texting her in French, saying that my "weirdo uncle" was sitting next to me and that I wanted him to leave cause he made me so uncomfortable, all of a sudden he turns to me and says "je parle français" (meaning 'I speak french') and my face went tomato red. I apologised over and over but he seemed to find it more funny than anything, probably the most embarrassing moment of my life.
I honestly don't know why I didn't see it coming considering he's from Spain and can speak about six different languages

In Russian, my friends started talking about how hot one of the girls was and saying to each other all the things they wanted to do with her, in which ways they wanted to f*ck her etc. About 5 min later the girl comes over and asks for a lighter in perfect Russian.
They were speechless for a few seconds.

I was sitting in the waiting room for a therapy appointment, and this couple was discussing their daughter's mental health issues in detail in Spanish... I'm very white, so I guess they thought I didn't know Spanish? But I'm an advanced Spanish speaker. And I don't think it's THAT uncommon in America for people to be pretty good at Spanish as a second language, so I don't know what they were thinking. I'm pretty sure they didn't think I could understand them though, because they were saying some really personal things. They kept glancing at me and I was forcefully staring at the ground to avoid eye contact. I feel really bad for their daughter that they would just talk about her like that in front of a stranger.

Which basically means excuse me, my boyfriend realized what was going on and turned around saying javla sluta with means fucking stop, then said more difficult Swedish which i couldn’t understand so well but he told me he told them to shut the fuck up and get out of our lives. The girls were standing there speechless and apologized in Swedish, then left, the next day we walked into them in the same small city and they looked really embarrassed

So me and my friend were at a country club and we were kinda bored so we started talking in english cuz our english exam was coming up (we are both fluent english speakers but we are from a spanish-speaking country) and also im asian and my friend just looks not from our country (hard to explain but kinda understandable) so we were at the like outdoor gym just talking about whatever and there were these guys that looked our age (they were like in a group of 6) and we just kept speaking on english and we overheard them saying to each other "go talk to them if you dare" "nooo my english is awful" and things like that in spanish. We (me and my friend) were so shook and we eventually left and when we reached our family we started freaking out cuz we didnt think they would actually see us as american/british/any english speaking tourists and luckily we didnt see them again but its still very funny to both me and my friend.
Hope you enjoyed this story from someone who lives in the comment section!!

I'm Russian and I live in Canada. When I was 16, I went to a music festival with two of my girl friends, and during the evening I see this lady walking alongside with her daughters (or so I'm assuming, they all looked like they were related), and as she passes by me, she started talking shit about me IN Russian, judging me by what I was wearing, said that I looked slutty, etc. without realizing that I can understand her (keep in mind, this was during the summer time, and I was wearing denim shorts and a band merch shirt, nothing sexual). So I decided to turn around, and calmly say "Извините, вы не можете повторить это немного погромче?" which translates to "Excuse me, can you repeat that a little louder?" I've never seen a Karen get so RED and run away from a teenager so fast in my whole life. 😂

Im not bilingual. I did have to learn third world spanish in high school though. Long since forgotten the junk. But I used to be more conversant in my younger years. I do remember a time when I overheard "people" speaking on the bus about navigating the city, and was able to interject with a local answer to help them out. Instead of thanking me they got pissed off. They were pissed off that their very public bus conversation wasnt as private as they thought it was, because they prejudicially assumed a white guy wouldnt know any spanish. I guess learning their language since I knew they would never learn mine was somehow an affront to them. I have since lost all regard and consideration for the species.

Once my friends were in the Germany in the water park and there was that lazy river. There was a cute guy behind them and they talked about him in polish (our language): "I'd go with him to gym if I wasn't that fat", "Damn, I'd definitely go out with him" and other stuff. They spoke freely cuz they didn't think anyone around would understand. The guy started smiling and one of my friends said in polish "he's probably laughing at us". Then the guy got close to them and answered just like that: "no, i'm not laughing at you" and swimmed away. You can only imagine their embarassment.
