I respect your opinion, but I am still a big supporter of physical media (particularly DVD). Though the part where you talk about menus can also apply to DVDs nowadays.

I think what should have also been on the list is that with older media like back to the future, the God father trilogy etc. Why are they not all on ONE disc. The original DVD version fit it on three discs, so why can't it fit on a disc that holds massively more data?

Are you kidding I have a lot of cool menus in blue ray and with blue ray I can have multiple versions of a movie on one side instead of those terrible two sided dvds. Also I dislike the two separate dvd discs with the movie on the fucked up add on that broke somehow and caused the main dvd to get scratched.

12:16 Try the Amazon FireStick - it allows a system wide movie/tv show search with Alexa. I don't usually use assistants but I've used that feature quite a lot - works great! You don't even need to type, just hold the speak button on the remote and the FireStick instantly shows results for your query across all your apps.

its called BLUE ray because the laser that reads this type of dvd is BLUE instead of red. this change in the wavelength of the laser reader allows for more information in the same amount of space.

I use a couple of streaming apps and my Roku main menu has a search feature, when you search for a specific movie it will show up a list of the movie on all the streaming apps you have installed on the Roku and tell you if it is included in your subscription or if you have to pay a few dollars to watch it, making it really easy to search movies across multiple streaming apps.

You should look into Plex. It answers all of your wishes, regarding eliminating trailers, commercials. It also organizes your movies by many different ways and offers "netflix" like navigation.

I don't know if these things are regional, I'm British and I've been collecting blu rays since around 2013, I've bearly experienced any of these I stay clear of most special editions and mainly stick to steel book if I really want to own a special version of a film. Also, I prefer the menues to be more stripped down, I still get pissed off when I buy an older DVD and the menu is a graphic designer's fever dream. Great video but most of this is just personal preference.

The one pro I have for BRD: It's ideal for a few genres and media, particularly sci-fi, action and animated stuff. It looks gorgeous.
The one con: It's difficult to play them on your PC without buying the proper software.

The irony of blue ray is that with 50 GB of storage, the video quality isn't any better than an MP4 encoded with h264 - and that will be 4 GB max for a 2 hour film in 1080p. The technology was more or less dead when it was created. Physical media will more or less disappear within 20 years and for collectors items and they will have to do something else.

Streaming is convenient, if you don’t have a disability. Most streaming services don’t offer descriptive audio or even closed captioning. Modern physical media on the other hand, is making a greater effort to accommodate. Fuck streaming.
